Life Cover or Life Insurance is an insurance policy that can help your family and loved ones with everyday money worries if you pass away during the policy term. Household bills, mortgage payments or general necessities could be covered by the payout. You will choose the cover you need and how long you want to be covered for, and then pay premiums monthly or annually. The cost will vary depending on the following factors: age, health, lifestyle, if you smoke, the policy duration. The younger and healthier you are the cheaper your policy will be as you are ultimately less likely to die. Please remember, Life Cover will only payout for death, not illness or injury.
There are different types of Life Cover: Life with CI Cover, Life Insurance, Decreasing Life Insurance, Over 50s Life Insurance. To find out more about each of these and to find out which would be the best fit for you, speak to an adviser today on 0333 320 8658.
Do you need Life Cover?
There is no right or wrong answer to this question. It is entirely down to personal choice and individual needs. However, if you have loved ones who depend on your income to provide for them – for example children or a partner – then you may want to consider taking out a policy. If you have a mortgage that you pay or it is a joint mortgage with a partner then you may want to take out Life Cover so that the mortgage can still be paid off after you pass away. You may also want to think about taking out the policy to cover funeral expenses.
You won’t usually need to consider it if you are single and have no dependents, if your partner earns enough to support themselves/your family, or if you are on low income and are therefore eligible for state benefits.
